Jackie Citrus and Sarah Flowers selected for publication in 2021/22 Lürzer’s Archive 200 Best Ad Photographers worldwide

Lürzer’s Archive named Jennifer Silverberg one of the 200 Best Ad Photographers worldwide in 2021/22. We could list her many other accolades here, but that would take up a lot of space. Her photo studio is located St. Louis. She is making the trek to Chicago to present her work and discuss why she highly recommends Assisting as the best way to break into commercial photography.

Silverberg left New York to study political science at Washington University in St. Louis in the late 1990s. Through high school and college, Jennifer enrolled in photography classes as an elective, thinking it would be a fun hobby. Then, as a junior in college, a good friend was interning as a writer for the Riverfront Times, the alternative weekly newspaper, and suggested that Jennifer apply for the staff photographer internship position. She did, got the job, and for 14 years, she was the Riverfront Times staff photographer. Silverberg was laid off during the Great Recession of 2007–2009, and her commercial photography career was born.

During her presentation, Silverberg will delve into the diverse lessons she has learned on her journey with her New Yorkers' sensibility and charm.

What you'll learn

  • That the "choreography" of being on-set is more important than your technical skills.
  • That commercial photography is more than a career; it's a lifestyle.
  • Assisting offers a wonderful opportunity train, learn, develop, and grow in the business.
  • The importance of getting out there and taking chances.
